About Us

My father and I started Richards Window Fashions in 2001. My son, Michael, and I run it today. We started with inexpensive blinds and shades and soon realized that Hunter Douglas products offered a real opportunity to bring high quality and style to the Lehigh Valley while receiving extensive training and product knowledge to help expand our business. Shutters were also a new product back then in this area but we embraced the permanence of their style and durability and became one of the first shutter experts in the Valley. Our approach to window treatments is unique in that we feel measurement, installation and service before & after the sale are just as important as the products themselves. We want our customers to have the right shade for the right application, focusing on “what you need the window treatment to do” when recommending options. Our staff are friendly and knowledgeable and we have a beautiful and updated showroom full of displays customers can operate and really understand how some of the more complicated shades will work in their homes. All of the samples books are in the showroom as well, so if a customer comes in with basic window or door sizes we can price up blind and shade options for them to give them ideas for their budget. We’ve added commercial services during the warehouse boom in the Valley – Hunter Douglas Architectural offers large commercial strength roller screens popular in warehouse, medical and retail spaces. We offer fire rated honeycomb shades or faux wood blinds popular in hospitality spaces, and you get the same great service our residential customers receive!

Richards Window Fashions is named after my father and brother, both have the first name Richard. We thought we were being clever with the two Richards, turns out everyone thinks my last name is Richard. LOL! Richards is the sister company to Penn Windows & Doors (established 1948), our replacement window and door company that shares its showroom with Richards. Same staff for both companies – I own both, Andy is the salesman for both, Matt & Michael service both, we’re one big happy family! We started selling blinds & shades in 2001 when we eliminated our kerosene business (Penny Heaters) and we were looking for a “winter business” to help with cash flow when windows and doors were slow. Fast forward to 2023, we renovated our showroom and updated our Gallery display for our 20 Year Gallery anniversary. We carry Hunter Douglas blinds and shades, Norman plantation shutters, and Hunter Douglas’ commercial line for businesses, servicing the Lehigh Valley.

Meet Our Team

Erin Duffield

President and owner of Richards Window Fashions, you’ll find Erin in the showroom nearly all the time handling customer service, ordering, scheduling, marketing and anything else that needs to get done. Erin has a B.A. in English and Secondary Education from York College of Pennsylvania, has 3 children and lives in Northampton with her husband. Erin has been with the company since 2001 and she purchased it from her father in 2020. Erin is also the owner of Penn Windows & Doors, they share the showroom and staff with Richards.

Andy Scott

Andy is our in-home sales consultant. He is a Lehigh Valley native (born in Slatington) and has a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Bloomsburg University. Andy is married and lives in Allentown with his 2 dogs (that frequently visit the office) and cat. Andy has been with the company since 2013. He is also the home improvement sales consultant for our parent company, Penn Windows & Doors.

Matt Whalen

Matt is our senior blind, shade and shutter installer and service specialist. He also performs 2nd measures when necessary. Matt is a Lehigh Valley native (born and currently living in Slatington), and is married with 2 children and 2 dogs. He has been with the company since 2018. Matt is also our Operations Manager for Penn Windows & Doors, in charge of 2nd measures, installation crews, job materials and services.

Michael Duffield

Michael is Erin’s youngest child and third generation Richards Window Fashions family member! Michael installs, services & repairs blinds, shades and shutters, covers the showroom, and works in the office. Michael is a Lehigh Valley native (Konkrete Kids!) and currently lives in Lehighton with his wife and 2 cats. He has been with the company since 2020. Michael also runs materials to the job site and performs services with Matt for our parent company, Penn Windows & Doors.
